| WHAT? Reflect on what happened. Make initial observations. | Today, (22/8/23) my main goal for the day was to improve the children’s colour recognition. One of the activities that I did to achieve this goal was a colour scavenger hunt where the children observed the environment to find things that matched different colours on the worksheet. The activity was very successful in helping the children to understand how colours appear in the world, and improved their ability to recognise colours. The children were very interested in the activity and talked a lot with each other to help one another find things in the environment. In the afternoon, I discussed with the parents about this activity, and they were very happy to see success in the children’s improvement. I will also send the photos to them later through HarmonyWeb. |
| SO WHAT? Ask deeper questions to better understand what happened. | Another activity I did was an activity called “Create my Face” which required the children to paste eyes, nose lips, etc onto a blank face. For both this activity and the previous activity, the younger children could not participate in these activities which left them excluded. Next time the children do arts and craft, I plan to give the younger children easier painting activities or another alternative such as playdough while the other children do the harder craft. |
| WHAT NEXT? Consider what improvements to make and take action. | The way that I am teaching the children currently is effective, and does not require much action. The children are very independent and do not require a lot of my help when I am teaching them something, for example, colours or numbers. For next time, I plan to provide more assistance to the younger children while the older children do the harder activities. |
