Question Answer
WHAT? Reflect on what happened. Make initial observations. I was not trying to achieve anything ,as the. only child I care for on a Monday was unsettled on arriving.this small person asked for the lunch box and parent still present proceeded to eat some of lunch provided. With a runny nose , child was let try to wipe own nose as has an independent nature. When parent left child calmly blew parent a kiss goodbye. For the morning we played with bike on grass wearing helmet and sunhat. moved to sandpit ,goop, gardening, looking in compost at all the worms ,child said my friends to worms,. W e quietly feed some hungry birds, looked for the kangaroos. At the letterbox we talked to delivery man bringing appliances to neighbour, we brought home a dryer box for a new cubby.parent was delayed on collection so only brief chat at collection(parent had just driven back from New castle) ..
SO WHAT? Ask deeper questions to better understand what happened. today child slept three hours so was catching up from physical weekend.only one child so focus on improving this child's sense of belonging . no feedback from family on this occasion. We read lots of stories including acting out mr McGee goes to sea a favourite and we sing old Mikamba had a farm .being responsive to child 's' energy level allows most activities to suit child 's temperament on the day. Each days activities are written on a chalk board next to sign in desk. Taking a flexible approach means the child is leading and not expected todo things too tired to complete.
WHAT NEXT? Consider what improvements to make and take action. I will continue taking my direction from child as they can express what they are interested in.do not feel research will explain changeable nature of this child,'s temperament I .can leave my thoughts in diary or share with sibling who runs a not for profit preschool. Other educators are not free to communicate as working different days
